Tea party, not Obama, to blame for economy

| September 9, 2012 7:00 AM

The Bee should be castigated for publishing diatribes full of hate such as the letter that appeared on Aug. 21. The writer attempts to smear the president with accusations of associating with a communist, an America-hating racist and a domestic terrorist. Obama is described as “a president who hates America.” And of course, Obama is blamed for being “bent on dismantling our successful capitalist system.”

On the later matter, the tea party activists in Congress have been doing a pretty good job of it by hating the president to the point of making him unelectable by promoting their own brand of economics, which got us into this mess in the first place.

How does this kind of behavior square with the professed belief of many of them in the teachings of Jesus who said: “But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you.”
