Alsager, Crosby lead Thunder boys to wins

KOOTENAI — T.J. Alsager scored a team-high 15 points to lead the Kootenai Thunder boys basketball team to a 39-34 win over the Pullman Christian School Eagles to tip off the season recently.  

Joel Crosby added 11 points, Curtis Roop eight, Jason Roop three, Jimmy Soderberg two and Joel Smith one in the win.

The Thunder then took on Oaks Academy in Spokane Valley, losing 27-72 to even their record in Mountain Christian League play. Crosby led the way with nine points, Jason Roop added five, Smith four, Alsager and Mike Favor three each, Soderberg two and Curtis Roop one to round out the scoring.

The Thunder then played the Immaculate Conception Academy Spartans in nonleague action, losing 58-45. Curtis Roop led the way with 13 points, giving the balanced Thunder their third leading scorer in the first three games. Alsager added 10 points, Crosby nine, Soderberg five, Zac Couch four, and Jason Roop and Tevin Perry two apiece.

The Thunder played their first home game against the Columbia River Christian Academy Torchbearers from Kettle Falls in the most recent game, winning 64-35.  

Alsager poured in a game-high 27 points, Crosby scored 15, Couch 10, Soderberg eight, Smith four, Jason Roop and Tommy Blair two each and Shayne Jensen and Perry one apiece.

The Thunder boys team is coached by Joel Aispuro.

The Kootenai Thunder girls basketball team traveled to Pullman Christian School in Pullman for their first match of the year recently, losing 31-13 to the Eagles. Scoring for the Thunder were Taryn Osman with eight points and Tessa Murray with five points.  

In the next game against Oaks Academy in Spokane Valley,  the Thunder lost 47-12. Osman led the way with seven points and Murray added five in defeat.
