KELLOGG — Garret Wendt scored a game-high 22 points to lead Kellogg past Sandpoint in a nonleague game at Andrews Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

Jeremiah Gagnon scored 14 points to lead Sandpoint (1-10), which fell behind by 17 in the third quarter. A comeback in the fourth quarter eventually cut the deficit to five, before the Bulldogs finally ran out of gas.

Colin Jurenka scored six points and earned the praise of coach Tyler Haynes for handling the point guard duties as starter Matthew Burgstahler missed the game with injury.

Wendt did much of his damage in the third quarter, helping the Wilcats (7-4) build a double digit lead.

“Wendt really took over in that third quarter and we couldn’t contain him,” said Haynes. “Collin really stepped up and did a great job at the one.”

Chase Rodriguez pulled down nine boards to help the Bulldogs win the rebounding edge, and Nick Nelson added nine points in defeat.

It’s a busy week for Sandpoint, which travels to Bonners Ferry on Friday for the Moose Madness spirit game, then hosts Moscow on Saturday in key a league opener.
