Scott, Kiebert sisters power Bulldogs past Bengals

LEWISTON — Senior Sierra Scott scored her 10th and 11th goals of the season one minute apart at the very end of the game, leading Sandpoint to a 4-2 win over Lewiston on Saturday in nonleague soccer at Lewiston High School.

The Bulldogs (8-3-2) built a 2-1 lead early in the second half after goals by the Kiebert sisters, senior Kaylee and sophomore Nan, before the Bengals scored the equalizer to tie the game with 20 minutes remaining.

Sandpoint head coach Conor Baranski gave credit to Lewiston for much improved play since the teams’ first meeting, a 5-0 win by the Bulldogs.

“We started slow, and had some frustrations, but I was extremely impressed that the girls stayed hungry and didn’t give up, even though we were still tied at literally the last minute of the game,” said Baranski, lauding the play of Scott. “I was really happy with her because she had been having a frustrating afternoon until the 80th minute. I guess that’s why she’s the league leader for scoring.”

Sandpoint hosts Moscow today at 4 p.m. at Pine St. Field in the final 4A North regular season clash.
