Workshop knowledge will be worth it, right?

| October 27, 2013 7:00 AM

I took a little time this morning to watch the news on TV. What I saw was an arrest (not in this area) by at lest three officers of a man, who was seen in the act, yet only under suspicion of stealing a piece of cake.

Recently, I called and asked for a dispatcher to send a deputy to stand by while I confronted my renter of stealing wood off my back lot and failure to pay rent. I was told the dispatcher couldn’t do this until I had first started court proceedings. I said I didn’t know how to do this and he told me that I would need to hire it done then.

So that Monday, I went to the courthouse and paid $10 for the starter packet. I was told that I could bring the packet the next day and meet with the court assistance officer (I didn’t need an appointment). Tuesday, I took the filed paperwork (for eviction proceedings) back to the courthouse and was told that I did need an appointment but first I needed to attend an introductory workshop on the first Monday of the month and then, on the third Monday, an attorney-assisted workshop and then on the first or third Monday, attend a form review workshop.

Now, I’m 81 years old, so it could be assumed I’m a little slow on the uptake but I have figured out something to do all by myself. I’m going to bake a cake and go (all by myself) and tell my renters that I have a cake just sitting out there in plain sight and sit back and see who all shows up.

Of course, it would be my luck that my renters would not like cake or that cake would no longer be of any importance.

But just think how much smarter I’ll be with all of this workshop knowledge. I don’t know about you but I think I’m missing something.
