Parking enforcement is handled unfairly

Gentlepersons:

The only indication that I had parked in a prohibited area is the notice in the enclosed envelope. I protest.

In searching for a parking space during the Arts and Crafts Fair, I saw a car pulling out of a parking space just inside the gate to City Beach, and I took it, thus relieving a handicapped person of a long walk from somewhere downtown.

There were no signs indicating that this was a no-parking area. Nor should there have been.

Apparently, the city views the park as a cash cow. I noticed that the officers were very busy sticking tickets on cars parked in boat parking spaces during the fireworks display. Is there any boat owner silly enough to try to maneuver a boat through all that traffic on the evening of July 4?

During these events, there should be every effort to provide parking for as many cars as possible in the beach parking area. Not only does it relieve many people from having to walk long distances from parking downtown, but it also relieves some of the pressures on the downtown parking areas.

Furthermore, this wholesale handing out of tickets creates feelings of disgust among not only the local citizens but among the visitors that we are encouraging to come to our “friendly” community.

Surely, there are better ways of raising money.
