Vikings blank Bulldog boys in season opener

| August 27, 2014 7:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Konnar Skindlov and Devin Kohles each scored a goal, and Garrett Boyce posted a shutout in goal, leading Coeur d’Alene to a 2-0 blanking of Sandpoint in a nonleague boys soccer opener on Tuesday at Pine St. Field.

The Vikings (1-0) took advantage of the short handed Bulldogs, controlling the action and dominating possession.

“I like how we competed. We’re not looking for results this early in the season,” said Vikings coach Jeff Lake. “We went up against a beat up team, and we know they’ll be better next time.”

The Bulldogs (0-1), playing without injured starters Amos Crossingham, C.J. Crane, Nick Rapoport and Koen Conner, managed only two shots on goal in the loss.

Sandpoint hosts Lake City on Thursday. See Friday’s Daily Bee for a season preview of the boys soccer team, as well as all the local fall sports teams.
