SANDPOINT — An Elmira man who was shot in the face following a home-invasion robbery on Monday was also doused with gasoline by his alleged assailants.

The detail emerged in court documents filed Wednesday against three Bonner County men who were implicated in the blitz, which ultimately led to an 11-hour standoff at an Ella Avenue home in Sandpoint.

Joseph Vencil Kluck Jr., who is accused of firing the gunshot that grazed the 57-year-old man’s cheek, is charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, second-degree kidnapping and resisting arrest.
