SANDPOINT — City and transportation officials are rolling out a series of presentations to demonstrate the worth of the Selkirks-Pend Oreille Transit bus system.

To shore up support for the public transportation system, Dover Mayor Annie Shaha, Kootenai Mayor Mike Keough, Ponderay Mayor Carol Kunzeman and SPOT manager Marion Johnson dropped by the Sandpoint City Council meeting last week to detail its successes. According to Johnson, the bus system has delivered more than 200,000 rides since its debut in the summer of 2011.

“From my perspective, SPOT’s become a very dependable form of transportation and a part of the economic health of our communities,” Johnson said.
