SANDPOINT — The song remains the same, but perhaps the final verse hasn’t been written, yet.

At Wednesday’s council meeting, Sandpoint city officials listened to a half-dozen business owners discuss the issues as well as proposed improvements to downtown parking

“Parking is my passion,” said business owner Ward Tollbom. “I’ve owned a business downtown for 20 years and the problem is the same. People park where they work, depriving businesses of spaces. Then they’re forced to do the ‘two-hour shuffle’ so they don’t get ticketed.”

Tollbom proposed changing the two-hour limit by the hospital and Triangle Park to four hours. He said that many businesses downtown are struggling and not having adequate parking doesn’t help.
