SANDPOINT — Reports of the death of the ski season on Schweitzer Mountain have been greatly exaggerated.

Resort officials are growing weary of hearing rumors that the mountain is weeks away from shutting down its winter operations due to a lack of snow.

“I’ve been getting an earful for the last couple of weeks,” said Sean Mirus, Schweitzer’s marketing director, said on Wednesday.

The reality is that the resort is pushing to stay open for the season and the snowpack situation is not nearly as dire as some people fear or suspect.

“It’s way better than people think it is or heard it is,” Mirus said of the snow conditions.
