SAGLE — A temporary asphalt plant that has been operating at a Sagle surface mine intermittently for more than a decade was denied permanent status on Wednesday.

Bonner County commissioners voted 2-1 to deny a comprehensive land use plan amendment and a zone change that would have enabled Interstate Concrete & Asphalt to relocate its asphalt plant from Sandpoint to Frank Linscott’s gravel pit on the west side of U.S. Highway 95.

The denial follows a Planning & Zoning recommendation to conditionally approve the amendment and zone change last month.
