DR. BIRD VISITING SANDPOINT

Dr. Forest Bird, Palm Springs, Calif., takes his office and his work with him in a twin-engine amphibian that has seen a lot of changes since the U.S. Navy gave up ownership of it. The plane was once assigned to personal use of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Dr. Bird is here for two weeks of combined business and pleasure and to visit his in-laws, the Tom Morans. Dr. Bird’s co-pilot is Laura Eustace, his red headed secretary who has logged a couple hundred hours flying this type of ship.

It is 18.25 miles, but Culver Spur residents are working for an extension to their neighborhood.

DON’T PUBLISH — HOTTER THAN H---!

One reason there aren’t more letters from the men in the 2nd Idaho Regiment is explained by the following, the authorship of which, for obvious reasons, cannot be disclosed:

“For gosh sake don’t publish any of my letters. There are not 20,000 Mexicans in the state of Sonora. That was a false statement we heard. There is only an outpost across the border.

“There were several comments on that letter in the News recently and if any of the higher-ups find out who wrote it — court martial. So go easy, Mabel. Just read the paper. Hotter than hell. Everything fine.”
