SANDPOINT — During May’S annual National Ski Areas Association convention held this year in Nashville, Tenn.,, Tom Chasse President & CEO of Schweitzer Mountain Resort was elected to serve a three-year term with the NSAA Board of Directors.

“It’s an incredible honor to be nominated & ultimately elected to the NSAA board,” said Chasse. “This is an organization that works to keep our industry strong through solid leadership from some of the biggest names in the ski world. This is tremendous for both Schweitzer and for me personally.”

According to the NSAA website, “NSAA analyzes and distributes ski industry statistics; produces annual conferences and tradeshows; produces a bimonthly industry publication and is active in state and federal government affairs. The association also provides educational programs and employee training materials on industry issues including OSHA, ADA and NEPA regulations and compliance; environmental laws and regulations; state regulatory requirements; aerial tramway safety; and resort operations and guest service.”

The organization elected eight new members at the convention, each of whom can serve two consecutive three-year terms. There are currently 26 members of the board who represent 472 ski areas throughout the United States.

“Being recognized as an industry resource by both the national organization and by my peer group is humbling,” said Chasse. “I’ve certainly taken more from the industry than I’ve given. Hopefully it’s my turn to give something back.”

Located in the rugged Selkirk Mountains of the northern Idaho panhandle and the northwest Rocky Mountains, Schweitzer overlooks the town of Sandpoint and Lake Pend Oreille. Schweitzer is well known for its two massive bowls, breathtaking views and amazing gladed terrain.
