Buildings don’t last forever. Do you think the children of our community should be breathing unhealthy levels of carbon dioxide? Should they be at risk from snow loads that are heavier that what the roof of many schools were constructed to handle? What about failing heat systems and constant plumbing issues? Perhaps you think it’s OK to have substandard safety equipment such as PAs, fire alarms and other emergency equipment, especially in today’s day and age.

Let’s face it; many of our schools are in a great state of disrepair. Patching the problems has been the practice for many years and numerous buildings just shouldn’t be propped up any longer.

Our school district has done an exemplary job of raising the standards for how our children are educated and our students and staff work hard to meet those standards. It has also been proven that students show improved performance with updated facilities. Can you just imagine how great our kids could be doing by improving their setting with new school buildings? Please join my family in voting “yes” on Aug. 30 for the plant facilities levy. We believe kids deserve to be educated in a safe, clean, supportive environment. We owe the children of our community that.
