I am writing this letter to encourage you to vote yes on the upcoming facilities levy for Lake Pend Oreille School District.

I am a retired educator and believe that education is of paramount importance for the future of all our children, grandchildren and future generations. My three grandchildren attended schools in our district, graduated from Clark Fork Jr./Sr. High School and all three then earned bachelor’s degrees from universities. In just a couple of years, my great-grandchildren will start school. I want them to have the best possible educational opportunities in our district. Never in my 32 years of teaching did I ever feel there was an extravagance of money spent on plant facilities.

Having visited two different schools in Lake Pend Oreille School District, I have seen a need for upgrading the facilities. We owe it to future generations to provide safe, attractive, well-maintained public school buildings.

I encourage you to vote yes for our school facilities levy on Aug. 30. A yes vote is a “yes” to the educational success of our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and future generations.
