What an odd time.

We elect leaders to make decisions and operate our school district but then we listen to those that lost the election disparage the good names of our friends and neighbors who give of their time to run for office. Even though it doesn’t ring true to those of us who have raised our children here and have seen so many graduate and succeed because of their training in Bonner County’s schools, we hear what a substandard education the kids are receiving. We hear that those who work or volunteer their time with the school district should give up their right to vote on the levy. Where did our pride in our local school system go?

It is time for those who have seen their children and grandchildren thrive because of their education, to jump off the negative train and speak out. Let your voice be heard and tell everyone that we do have a great school system run by a very capable board and superintendent. Tell your friends and neighbors and those who are new to the area about the caring teachers you know who have made a difference in your children’s lives.

It is always nice to believe that someone else will take care of it but one of our most important responsibilities is to provide an education for the children in the community, including safe and modern facilities for them to learn in. Be proud, be informed, join me in voting yes for the levy
