With the Lake Pend Oreille School District plant facilities levy vote quickly approaching, its an appropriate time to evaluate facility usage and replacement from the standpoint of a community’s responsibility to current and future generations of Bonner County residents.

We are fortunate that many years ago, concerned members of our community saw fit to build facilities that have served well to house our students and help prepare generations of Bonner County residents for lives and careers that they otherwise could not have enjoyed. Everyone realizes that facilities will not last forever even though we all wish they would. Much like Memorial Field, all facilities will one day be in need of replacement having served the community nobly for generations. We are at that point with many of the school’s facilities and delaying the solution will not lead to a better or less costly outcome.

With historically low borrowing costs, we have the opportunity to place the appropriate resources where they’ll do the most good for our students and positively effect generations of our community’s residents. Following in the footsteps of those who came before us, its our turn to invest in the community and in so doing, entrust our students with the resources necessary for strength, achievement and success.
