Bulldogs, Trojans draw 1-1

| August 30, 2016 9:26 PM

POST FALLS — McKie Gregory scored the equalizer in the 78th minute for the Trojans after Dawson Mulder scored his sixth goal of the season to give the Bulldogs the lead six minutes earlier, as the teams finished in a nonleague draw in boys soccer action Tuesday at Post Falls High School.

“It was a good game,” Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson said. “Sandpoint is definitely a good team. Statistically, we controlled the flow and possession of the game. We created some good chances and doubled them on the shot count. They’re a good team and played a solid soccer match. For me, it was a great opportunity for our team and we put in a solid game against them and having the upper hand shows me we’re right where we need to be. It’s good for us to put together something against a solid team.”

Mitch Rust was solid in goal in defeat, turning away eight shots to help his team earn the tie.

Post Falls (1-0-2) opens 5A Inland Empire League play at Lake City on Thursday.
