Gymnastics classes on tap

| August 30, 2016 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Two different styles of gymnastics are being offered in Sandpoint for any and all boys and girls ages 6-18 years-old, every Wednesday from Sept. 14 through Oct. 19 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. each day at Community Hall (204 N. 1st Ave.)

The first style, Rhythmics, is a beautiful activity that combines elements of ballet, gymnastics, dance and manipulation of five apparatus — ball, clubs, hoops, ribbon and rope — into skills and routines to music.

The second style, Acrosport, uses partners and groups working together to perform acrobatic skills of tumbling, lifts, balances, tosses and catches of partners in combination with dance. Gymnasts of all sizes are needed for acrosport. Bases are bigger and strong, while Tops are petite.

The fees are $40 per session ($5 city discount). There is a minimum of five and maximum of 12 participants needed to run each session, so sign up not to guarantee your spot. Classes are taught in a recreational format, and participants should wear athletic clothing that is not too baggy.

Pre-register by Sept. 7, at Sandpoint Parks and Recreation, located at 1123 Lake St.
