Grant hearing on airport fence set

| December 4, 2016 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Bonner County commissioners are conducting a public hearing Tuesday discuss seeking a state grant to fund the encirclement of Sandpoint Airport with wildlife fencing.

The hearing is set for 2 p.m. at the Bonner County Administration Building at the corner of Highway 2 and Division Avenue.

The county is seeking the funding through an Idaho Commerce community development block grant. The program is administered by Idaho Commerce with annual funds received from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development to cover projects that address health and safety threats.

The fencing is meant to deter deer from interfering with pilots taking off and landing at the airport.
