Genevieve Levon 'Jenny' Thurlow, 83

Genevieve Levon “Jenny” Thurlow, 83, passed away at Valley Vista, where she was receiving hospice care on Dec. 3, 2016.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Dec. 10, 2016, at Pinecrest Memorial Park with a reception to follow at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall.

Genevieve was born Feb. 19, 1933, in Ray, N.D., the daughter of Earnest John and Lillian Berger. Genevieve graduated from high school here is Sandpoint in 1951. She went to work in Spokane, Wash., where she worked as a nurse’s aide.

She later moved back to Sandpoint, Idaho, where she married her husband, Hugh Eugene Thurlow, on Oct. 18, 1958. They raised six boys, Kevin, Ken, Greg, Rich, Roger and Terry. Jenny worked in the Bonner County School District where she drove bus for 30 years before retiring.

Jenny always had something good cooking in the kitchen, whether it was cookies and brownies or canning produce from her husband’s garden. She enjoyed crocheting and finished many afghans for her kids and grandchildren before losing her sight. Wednesday afternoons you could find her with friends playing cards at Connie’s and one Saturday a month with her pinochle club.

Her most favorite times were spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Jenny is survived by her five sons, Ken, Greg, Rich, Roger and Terry; 11 grandchildren, a great-grandson; four sisters, Melba Aune, Bernita Williams, Rose Halverson, and Lois Drake; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mae Knudtsen; three brothers, Robert, Author and Ralph Berger; her husband, Hugh Eugene Thurlow; a son, Kevin Thurlow; and a daughter-in-law, Heidi Thurlow.
