Stebbins, Bunty, Nash survive at Tri-State

COEUR d’ALENE — Owen Stebbins (182), Preston Bunty (152) and Scout Nash (138) survived the first day of Tri-State, no easy task, leading the Sandpoint wrestling team to a 40th place finish after day one of the prestigious Tri-State Wrestling Tournament on Friday at North Idaho College.

Nash scored a big sudden victory win over a Post Falls opponent in the first round of consolation, before registering a pair of pins to remain alive.

Stebbins made the quarterfinals after 3-2 win over Hermiston, but lost a tough 2-1 match to Lake City dropping down to today’s consolation.

Bunty scored wins over Sentinel and Enumclaw and remains alive in consolation.

Day two of Tri-State continues today, as some of the top wrestlers from four states will compete starting at 9 a.m.
