Dec. 18, 1966 — NUCLEAR POWER

Northern Lights, Inc., with headquarters in Sandpoint, under a 30-year contract has purchased 1,500 kilowatts of power from the newly operating 800-megawatt nuclear power plant at Hanford, known as Hanford No. 1.

The nuclear-steam plant’s output equals about half of the output of the 16 such generating plants in operation across the U.S.

William T. Nordeen, general manager of Northern Lights, said the Pacific Northwest may need ten million-kilowatt nuclear plants within the next 20 years.

Although Ross outweighs Ridley by ten pounds, the Sandpoint boy put up such a contest that two of the judges credited him with a win while the third called for a draw. Ridley is being boosted as a “find” in the Puget Sound country.

RECEPTION OF COMPANY A PLANNED

Sandpoint folks are brewing big medicine for the home-coming of Company A and if plans go through as scheduled, the boys will be given one of the most rousing receptions ever tendered by Sandpoint citizens.

All subscription funds for the boys’ Christmas dinner have been set aside to give full leeway to the main event. Tonight is a big benefit dance at the Rink and Wednesday the Gem will have a big benefit show to further swell the funds for the invasion of the city by the boys of Company A.
