Jason Chaffetz is an eight-year Republican member of the House of Representatives from Utah. He is chairman of the House Oversight and Government Committee, tasked with overseeing and investigating activities of the government and government personnel. It’s the only House committee with subpoena power. That committee handled the hearings into Hillary Clinton’s emails.

Before Nov 8, Rep. Chaffetz made it clear that he was preparing further investigation into President Hillary Clinton. “It’s a target-rich environment … we’ve got two years of material already lined up.”

Then she lost. At which point he said, “It would be totally remiss of us to dismiss (the investigation) because she’s not going to be president.”

Since the election, Democrats have requested that Chaffetz consider looking into President-elect Donald Trump’s “financial arrangements in order to identify and protect against conflicts of interest.” Chaffetz’ response was, “I will when there is an allegation of wrongdoing.”

That response ignores the facts that Trump settled the Trump University fraud suit for $25 million and admitted using the Trump Foundation for illegal self-dealing. How much more wrongdoing does Chaffetz require?

Maybe he’s waiting for malfeasance after he takes office. I suspect that won’t take long.
