SANDPOINT — The Panida will host showings of “SEED: The Untold Story” next week.

“SEED” is a documentary that follows passionate seed keepers protecting the 12,000 year-old food legacy. In the last century, 94 percent of the world’s seed varieties have disappeared. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David-and-Goliath battle to defend the future of the world’s food.

In a harrowing and heartening story, these reluctant heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds. SEED features Vandana Shiva, Dr. Jane Goodall, Andrew Kimbrell, Winona Laduke and Raj Patel.

The documentary is showing Jan. 6, 7, and 8, at 7 p.m. in the Panida’s Little Theater. Tickets $7 adult, $6 senior, $5 student, $4 child.
