SPOKANE — Flashing the best depth in years, seven Bulldogs notched top five finishes last weekend at the Pacific Northwest Classic at University High School.

Casey Randles ran his record on the season to 18-0, shredding through the 182 pound bracket en route to the championship, leading the Bulldogs to a seventh place finish at the 17 team tournament.

“Casey entered the tournament with 99 high school wins and finished with 103, knocking off the same opponent in the finals that he has faced in all three tournament wins this year,” said Bulldogs head coach Mike Randles. “The new tournament allowed us to see a handful of different opponents, giving us a better idea of what we need to work on as we enter the second half of the season.”

Tyler Presser (170) posted three convincing wins to advance to the finals, finishing second after a first period pin. Joining Presser at 170 pounds was Owen Stebbins, looking sharp and fundamentally sound in his first action of the season by going 4-2 to finish fifth.

Zach Alamillo (220), Scout Nash (126) and Mahonri Hunsaker (152) each posted strong wins to finish fourth, and Tanner Kohal placed fifth, the seventh and final Bulldog to earn a podium spot.

“Zach continued where he left off on Wednesday, turning in two more days of very competitive wrestling, staying in position and attacking, losing in double overtime in the consolation finals,” described Randles. “We see both Scout and Mahonri turning a corner, attacking more consistently and it’s paying off for them.”

Sandpoint (5-2) will host Coeur d’Alene in a dual on Wednesday at SHS.
