Idaho Mythweaver sets boat tour fundraiser

| June 2, 2016 1:00 AM

Come aboard the Shawnodese next month for a special tour of Lake Pend Oreille.

Set to start at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, the tour of Lake Pend Oreille will led by Anna Armstrong of the Kalispel Tribe. It is also hoped that elders from the Tribe will be taking part as well. The tour will board from Kramer Marina, Highway 200, East Hope at 12:45 p.m. Boat launches promptly at 1 p.m. and will return to the dock at 4 p.m.

The Hope-Clark Fork area is a very sacred to the Kalispel people. It is considered their genesis site, and is also an important historic gathering and spiritual area. Armstrong will share with us her ancestors’ stories and history of this part of the Kalispel (aka Pend d’Oreille) aboriginal homeland, said Jane Fritz of Idaho Mythweaver.

The tour, hosted by Lake Pend Oreille Cruises, is also a fundraiser for Idaho Mythweaver. The cost for this three-hour chartered tour is $45.

Reservations are required and space is limited. Food and drinks will be available for an additional charge.
