Parks and Rec classes offer chance to learn new skills

If you’re looking for something to do or want to learn a new skill, look no further than the Sandpoint Parks & Recreation Department.

n Introduction to Woodworking

Love gorgeous, high-end hand-made kitchen accessories? Want to experience the joy of a pro-grade woodshop? If your answer is yes, then this is the perfect class for you.

In a fun one-day class you’ll design and build your own hardwood cutting board set. You will learn how to use the jointer, planer and table saw to surface and prep raw lumber. Design your own boards with as much simplicity or complexity as you like.

The class fee of $71 (with $2 city discount) includes a selection of hardwood for approximately 18-inch by 12-inch cutting board.

The class will be held at Makerpoint Studios, 1424 N. Boyer, Suites C106-14, on Wednesday, June 15 from 6-9 p.m.

n Introduction to MIG Welding

Come learn proper use of a MIG welder from a master welder and fabricator, to. This class is a full introduction to MIG welding and will give you all of the basics to get started on your first project.

Class date is Wednesday, June 8, at MakerPoint Studio, 1424 N Boyer Ave., Suites C106-14. Space is limited to four people.

Pre-register by June 6 at Sandpoint Parks and Rec, 1123 Lake St. Fee is $71, with a $2 discount for participants residing inside Sandpoint city limits.

n Introcution to Autodesk Fusion 360 Sketching

Autodesk’s Fusion 360 Sketching is the first 3D CAD/CAM tool of its kind, connecting the entire product development process in a single cloud-based tool. With that, there is a lot to learn.

In this class, participants will be introduced to sketching in the program as this is the base for all the 3D design to follow, and work side by side with the instructor to better understand the power of a good sketch. Sketching can also be used specifically for its ability to layout flat objects as well.

The class will be held Tuesday, June 7, from 6-9 pm at MakerPoint Studio, 1424 N Boyer Ave., Suites C106-14. Space is limited to four people.
