Cool vibes keep area's hot entertainment GOING

SANDPOINT — OK, we’ve arrived at that magical, seasonal inflection point where literally every day of the week has something cool happening! There are a couple of open mics in store this coming week, plus musicals, films, live performers givin’ it up for KRFY community radio, outdoor concerts, fun runs and community celebrations.

Live music venues are offering everything from old-time to jazz to rock and rockabilly.

Thursday, June 9

‘Sing Street’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

‘Buena Vista Social Club’

Venue: Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague, Spokane.

Time: 6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 9

Aging Cuban musicians whose talents had been virtually forgotten following Castro’s takeover of Cuba, are brought out of retirement by Ry Cooder, who traveled to Havana in order to bring the musicians together, resulting in triumphant performances of extraordinary music, and resurrecting the musicians’ careers.

KRFY Live On-Air Membership Party

Venue: Crosby Building (former Snowy River storefront) at the corner of First & Cedar in Sandpoint.

Sandpoint Community Radio KRFY will be broadcasting live for two days, with live music, community interviews, drawings, and lots of fun. Come down, join the fun and see your community radio station in action.

Mobius Riff

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., Sandpoint

Come out and enjoy the music stylings of Mobius Riff, featuring an eclectic mix of jazz, rock, Celtic, classical, Middle Eastern, and originals played by Tom Duebendorfer, Larry Higgins, John Sarchio and Larry Guldberg.

‘Clue, The Musical’
