Pickle Ball League serving up summer fun

| June 10, 2016 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint Parks and Rec and Sandpoint West Athletic Club are partnering up to offer a Pickle Ball League. Join the fun and be a part of one of the quickest growing sports across the country, playing a paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. Pickle ball combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong.

Players use a wooden paddle, and hit plastic balls over a net.

The league will play on Thursdays, from June 23 through July 28, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at SWAC, 1905 Pine in Sandpoint. SWAC has two outdoor courts complete with lights for evening play.

The league fee is $26 ($2 city discount), and the registration deadline is June 17 at Sandpoint Parks and Rec. The overall number of participants will determine the league format, with singles and doubles.

If league play is not for you, contact SWAC at 263-6633 to learn more about free pickle ball on Wednesdays, from 5-7 p.m. Stop by, learn the game, meet other pickle ball enthusiasts and schedule games for more times in your week. For non-members outside of “Free Wednesday Pickle ball” the rate is $4/person for use of the outdoor courts.
