Bulldogs and Trojans draw

| October 5, 2016 1:00 AM

POST FALLS — Riley Walkington scored her fifth goal of the season on a free kick midway through the first half, but the Bulldogs couldn’t make the lead stand up, playing to a 1-1 road draw with Post Falls in nonleague girls soccer on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs (4-6-4) had trouble penetrating the packed in defense, and didn’t play up to the level they showed in a previous win over Lake City. Head coach Conor Baranski called it a naive performance by his team.

“We kept trying the same thing over and over without much success,” said Baranski, noting Moscow will play a similar style. “We lacked some composure in front of the goal. That game should be won, especially after a win against Lake City.”

Rickie Colosimo scored on a free kick in the 51st minute for the Trojans (2-10-2) to equalize things.

“The girls are greatly improved with each week, especially as we get a bit more healthy,” Post Falls coach Steve Mills said. “They did a great job of defending and executing the counter attack.”

Sandpoint (4-5-5) travels to Moscow on Saturday looking to earn the right to host the district championship.
