Lawrence Wayne Baggett

| October 9, 2016 1:00 AM

Lawrence (Larry) Wayne Baggett passed away, Sept. 19, at his home in Bend, Ore., after a six-year battle with prostate cancer, at the age of 69. Larry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara (BJ), and their daughter Courtney.

He attended The School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, and completed his bachelor’s degree in Business at Regis College, while employed by the city of Colorado Springs. Larry started working for the city digging ditches for the Gas Division, and over his 30 years of service worked his way up to the fleet and facilities director.

Larry’s gift to the world was his enthusiasm, especially for all things bicycle! He owned and operated Competitive Instincts, and built hundreds of custom bikes for his loyal clientele here in Sandpoint. He was also an avid rock and ice climber, motorcycle racer (he raced early in his career for Penton), and cyclist. Larry loved to laugh! He will be remembered for his fantastic story telling (all of which were true) and his ability to find the humor in almost any situation. He was also passionate about social issues and was a fierce opponent of injustice.

There will be a celebration of life get together at Eichardt’s, 212 Cedar St., Oct. 15, at 5 p.m. Please come and share a story or memories of Larry.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to your local Humane Society.
