Forum takes look at region's economy

| October 13, 2016 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Once again, the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Sandpoint Economic Forum 2016 with the assistance of D.A. Davidson & Co.

The forum is today from 12-1:30 p.m. at the Sandpoint Center, 414 Church St. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m.

In an election year, the economy can present uncertainty and challenges, but also new opportunities. D.A. Davidson is bringing two highly regarded speakers to discuss the current state of Idaho’s economy as well as a look at the economy on a national and global scale.

Jeff Sayer is a founding partner of Rectify Horizons, but is best known for his term as the director of commerce for the state of Idaho and for his role as the president and chief financial officer of Mountain View Hospital in Idaho Falls. Jeff will offer a unique and thoughtful perspective on Idaho’s current economic state as well as direction.

John Mitchell, Ph.D., was a professor of economics at Boise State University for 13 year before becoming chief economist of U.S. Bancorp until 1998, when he then served as western region economist for US Bank. Mitchell will offer us a current viewpoint of the broader economy in a fun and relatable way during these uncertain times.

Reservations are required. The cost is $15 for chamber members, $20 for non-chamber members and includes lunch catered by Tango Café.
