Cocolalla hosting annual History Day

| October 18, 2016 1:00 AM

COCOLALLA — The Cocolalla Community Hall will host its sixth annual History Day on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the old one-room Cocolalla Schoolhouse.

History Day is a free event featuring displays, artifacts and activities related to the Cocolalla valley. Everyone is welcome.

Designed as a thank you to the community for their support of the historic schoolhouse as a community hall, History Day has expanded each year to include new exhibits illustrating the early days of the area. From harvesting ice on Cocolalla Lake to everyday living, the roots of the area are revealed in rare photos, newspaper accounts and old tools.

Free refreshments will be provided by Community Hall members and hands-on activities are planned. The Cocollalla Community Hall is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization which maintains the Cocolalla schoolhouse for community use. Located 1/2 mile west of Highway 95 on the south end of the Cocolalla Loop Road, the historic schoolhouse has easy access.
