Don Alvin Engle, 100

Don Alvin Engle, 100, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Monday, Aug. 22, 2016.

Graveside memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, in the Gamlin Lake Cemetery, behind the Church in the Wildwood. Pastor Lori Morton, First Lutheran Church, will be officiating.

Don was born on Dec. 23, 1915, in Krupp, Wash., the son of George and Irene Engle. He was raised on a wheat and cattle farm near Odessa, Wash., and graduated from high school.

He worked in power line construction for Pacific Power and Light, retiring as a foreman in charge of line building, in 1978.

He married Elinor Landers on May 13, 1946, in Spokane, Wash., and they moved to the Sagle, Idaho, area in 1973. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. He was a member of the BPOE No. 359 in Albany, Ore., and the IBEW No. 125 in Portland, Ore.

The centenarian is survived by Jackie (and Ken) Fullen of Jefferson, Ore., seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and 27 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and nine brothers.
