Last call for pups to enter ambassadog contest

SANDPOINT — Have a favorite pup who would make a great “spokesdog” for Sandpoint? There are just a few hours left to enter the Sandpoint Ambassadog contest, which helps raise funds for the Panhandle Animal Shelter. Deadline to enter is 5 p.m. today.
More than 50 dogs are now in the running for the title. To nominate your own dog, visit SandpointAmbassadog.com and click on “Enter Your Dog.” It’s easy to nominate your dog — just submit a photo, a short paragraph telling why he or she is a good candidate to be named Sandpoint’s Ambassadog, and a $5 donation to the Panhandle Animal Shelter (feel free to donate more!).
Five finalist dogs will be chosen in a random drawing among all nominees, but there’s voting, too. Voting continues until noon Tuesday, Sept. 20. For every vote your dog gets, he or she will get an additional entry in the drawing. Everyone who visits this page can vote once per day per dog for free, or “buy” additional votes by donating more to Panhandle Animal Shelter. For each $1 you donate you will receive one more vote for your favorite dog. Remember, this is a fundraiser!
The five finalists will be drawn and announced the afternoon of Sept. 20. Then, at Panhandle Animal Shelter’s Sept. 29 Yappy Hour event, which is held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Eichardt’s Pub, the finalists will go before a panel of celebrity judges who will choose Sandpoint’s first Ambassadog.
The winning Ambassadog enjoys a fetching lineup of prizes, including a two-night getaway to Western Pleasure Guest Ranch with his or her humans of choice, and a basket of goodies including gift certificates to Trinity at City Beach, Ezy Dog gear, Winter Ridge Natural Foods, plus a refillable magnum of Bistro Blanc from Pend d’Oreille, two tickets for a Sunset Dessert & Eagle Watching Cruise with Lake Pend Oreille Cruises on the Shawnodese, and a book of your choice from Keokee Books.
