SANDPOINT — The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Miller’s Country Store and Sandpoint Movers as September’s Businesses of the Month. The chamber recognizes the businesses for their commitment to serving the area with healthy, homemade food and reliable moving services.

Rod and Nanette Miller relocated to Sandpoint in 2009 to be a part of a new church planting and bought Handyman Services, which later become Sandpoint Movers. In 2010, they opened Miller’s Country Store, a neighborhood market, deli and bakery with an extensive bulk food assortment.

“We try to hit that balance of as healthy as possible while still being delectable food,” said Nanette Miller.

Miller’s Country Store also offers made-to-order sandwiches, a selection of “take and bake” meals and an assortment of delicious baked goods.

“We make pies like my great-grandmother made when I could barely peek over the countertop to watch,” Miller said. They focus on using the best ingredients available. “We see the business as a service to the community,” Rod Miller said in an interview with the Daily Bee in November 2010, shortly after the store opened. “We want to run the store as a pleasant place where people can stop by and feel at home.”

Miller’s Country Store employee Marie Wisler accepted the award on behalf of Nanette Miller and the team and thanked the community for all their support over the years.

While Rod, Nanette, and several friends and family ran Miller’s Country Store, Rod was also busy expanding the handyman and moving business. Their big box trucks are easily recognized rumbling around town and their team of strong but careful movers make quick work of packing, boxing, loading and unloading offices and homes, averaging 25-30 moves each month. Many a business has been moved overnight or over the weekend to be fully “up and running” the next business day with the competent help of Sandpoint Movers.

For several years now, Miller’s Country Store and Sandpoint Movers have provided sponsorship and assistance for the Scenic Half Marathon.

“The Millers have been such great supporters of the chamber of commerce,” said Greater Sandpoint Chamber President Kate McAllister. “They work with us on our events with set up and tear down and we appreciate their kindness and everything they do for us!”

Unfortunately, Rod passed away on May 22 2016, after a battle with cancer; he will be greatly missed.

“I have been so encouraged as I try to go on without him by the amazing amount of help I have received. Thank you to the beautiful people of the Sandpoint area,” said Nanette Miller.

Miller’s Country Store is located at 1326 Baldy Mountain Road.
