Peitz, Elliott lead Bulldog JV to win JV team in win

SANDPOINT — A momentum-swinging defensive gem by linebacker Nick Peitz helped lead the Sandpoint JV team to a 34-29 win over Mt. Spokane on Monday night at Barlow Stadium.

Peitz broke through the line in the second quarter, and ripped the ball out of the Mt. Spokane quarterback’s hands, almost as if taking a handoff, and rumbled for more than 30 yards for a key defensive touchdown.

Dillan Mitton had an interception on defense, and also several nice runs at tailback, and a swarming defense kept Mt. Spokane in check until a late fourth quarter run made the game closer than the final score.

Hunter Elliott hauled in two touchdown passes, and Riley Anderson caught a long touchdown pass and had an interception for the Bulldogs (1-2), who broke through for their first win of the season after a pair of close losses.

Declan Plummer threw for three touchdowns, as the Bulldogs mixed a vertical passing game with a power running game to move the chains.

The Sandpoint JV plays again this week at Lake City on Saturday.
