Patriotic Scramble seeks local golfers

| September 14, 2016 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Support your local veterans while enjoying some of the last great golf weather of the year on Sunday, at 9 a.m. at the Elks during the 9th annual Patriotic Golf Scramble.

Organizers are looking for more teams or individuals to take part in the golf scramble, open to any and all men or women, with all proceeds benefiting local veterans in Bonner and Boundary counties. Among those receiving money are the Marine Corps League, American Legion, VFW and VVA. “We can turn around and divide it up amongst these groups to help their folks,” said event organizer Linda Tatlock. “There’s always a need in this area.”

Event organizer Linda Tatlock said 25 percent of the proceeds will go to Kaniksu Health Services, for much-needed dental care for area vets.

The cost of the scramble $60 per person, and the event is also seeking hole sponsors for $100 and corporate sponsors for $500. Costs include greens fees, dinner and prizes for long drive, closest to the pin, and lowest scoring teams.

To sign up, call the Elks at 263-3811. To donate to the cause, mail money to: Sandpoint Elks Lodge #1376, P.O. Box 1000, Ponderay, ID, 83852.
