Donald Paul Fjermestad, 85

Donald Paul Fjermestad, 85, of Dillon, Mont., passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Dec. 4, 2017.

He was born on Dec. 25, 1931, in Minnewauken, North Dakota, to Marshall and Julia (Rickert) Fjermestad.

He was an underground miner in Butte, Mont., after high school then joined the Navy.

Donald was married to Vera Davidson in 1961 and they had a son, Donald Paul Fjermestad.

He moved to Deer Lodge in 1967 and began his logging career. He logged for 35 years before retiring in 2002.

After he retired he maintained his rental home business north of Dillon.

His survivors include his son, Don Fjer-mestad of Deer Lodge, Mont.; his stepdaughters, Patti Anderson of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Terri McCree of Coeur d’Alene, and Debbie Sherman of Marion, Mont.; as well as a sister, Shirley Erickson (Fjermestad) of Clark Fork, Idaho.

Private family services will take place at a later date.
