George Louis Shaffer, 83

George Louis Shaffer, 83, passed away on Sunday, Dec.17, 2017, in Sagle, Idaho. A celebration of George’s life will be held at a later date.

George was born on April 26, 1934, in Denver, Colo., to George and Dorothy Shaffer. He married Joyce Robinett on Oct. 26, 1957, in Longmont. George was drafted into the United States Army; after his honorable discharge, he returned to Longmont where he farmed. George began his career as a snowplow truck driver for the state of Colorado in 1963, retiring in 1993. He then moved to Sagle, where he managed the Alpine Trailer Park for the next 24 years.

George was a member of Sandpoint Elk’s Lodge No. 1376. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, boating, traveling, bowling and snowmobiling.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Shaffer of Sagle; two sons, Mark (Tammy) Shaffer of Sagle, and Bruce (Susie) Shaffer of Silt, Colo.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Loraine (Tom) Tomaskovich of Sagle, and Corlane Ault of Bellevue, Idaho. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
