SPOKANE VALLEY — Senior Grace Kirscher eclipsed the 1,000 point mark in her career by dropping more than 30 points for the second time this season, carrying the scoring load for the Bulldog girls in a hard fought 44-40 win over Pullman on Wednesday in the opener of the West Valley Tournament in Spokane Valley.

Kirscher finished with a season-high 32 points, none bigger than the last four after the Greyhounds tied the game at 40-40, and she ultimately scored all but 12 of her team’s points in willing them to victory during a game with lots of ebbs and flows.

“We were down in the first half, then built a 10 point lead in the second half,” described Bulldog assistant Will Love. “Pullman came back and tied the game 40-40, then Grace had two big baskets, including one as the shot clock was running down. Dawson (Driggs) and Katherine (Kaul) had two big defensive rebounds to help us with the win.”

Pullman (2-7) of the 2A Great Northern League, led 11-4 after the first quarter, but the Bulldogs (4-5) outscored the Greyhounds by 15 points in the pivotal second and third quarters, before momentum swung the other way in the fourth.

Sandpoint will face another Great Northern team today against Cheney at 1:30 p.m.
