Free youth baseball clinic coming to SHS on Saturday

SANDPOINT — Attention any area youth between the ages of 6-14 years-old who love baseball: The Sandpoint High School Baseball Little League Clinic will take place on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the SHS gym and mezzanine.

New Bulldog head baseball coach Chase Tigert, as well as staff and players from SHS, will host three different skills clinics. The 6-8 year-olds will go from 8:30-10:30 a.m., followed by the 9-12 year-olds from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and ending with the 13-14 year-olds from 1-3:30 p.m.

The cost is free, and participants are asked to bring athletic attired, with baseball pants preferred. Players should bring water, a baseball glove, cleans gym shoes and bat and helmet if they have one.

The clinics will consists of warm-up and stretching, throwing instruction and throwing for 15 minutes, the 90 minutes of stations that will include ground balls, fly balls, pitching, catching and hitting. The clinics will end with a 30 minute whiffle ball game. Any and all area participants are encouraged to attend.

The SHS softball program and head coach Elizabeth Hawkins-Williams will also be offering a clinic on Feb. 20, with more details available as the event draws near. Tryouts for all Sandpoint Little League teams will take place on Feb. 25.
