No. 3 Trojans run past Bulldogs

| February 3, 2017 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The Trojans wasted little time showing why they’re the No. 3 team in the state, running out to a 27-10 first quarter lead and cruising to a 67-43 win over the Bulldogs in nonleague boys basketball Thursday night at Les Rogers Court.

Tanner McCliment-Call put up 20 points and Cameron McKeown drained four 3-pointers as part of his 16 points, and the 5A Trojans (13-2) ramped up the full court pressure and simply had too much octane for the short bench of the Bulldogs, who only had eight players suit up.

Robbie Johnson was a bright spot in defeat for the Bulldogs (3-14), scoring 16 of his team-high 19 points in the second half, able to create off the dribble and generate most of the offense against a cat-quick Trojan defense. Johnson finished with seven rebounds and was able to penetrate and draw contact, getting to the line 14 times and making 10.

Patrick Rockwell added seven points and Alex Stockton seven rebounds in defeat.

Sandpoint will now turn its attention to a 4A IEL game in Moscow on Saturday.
