Neighborhood Watch program growing

SANDPOINT — The ranks of the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office Community Force Neighborhood Watch are growing.
The program currently consists of about 20 groups and has close to 400 members spread across the county, according to the sheriff’s office.
Volunteers, who include retired public safety officers, are interested in helping residents set up Neighborhood Watch Groups around the county. Free Neighborhood Watch signs are also available.
The benefits of a Neighborhood Watch include basic crime prevention that deprives opportunities for criminals, disaster preparedness and strengthening bonds within the community. It also allows neighbors to get to know one another and discuss ways of making their community a better place.
