Feb .5, 1967 — NEW AGENT ARRIVES

Jim Benson arrived Saturday from Ethridge, Tenn., to take up residence at the Sandpoint Experimental Station of the University of Idaho.

Benson is a research associate who graduated from the University of Tennessee. He takes the place of Lee Seitz and Tom Brackney, who both transferred from the post last year.

Benson came in with his wife Betty and young son Tim, age 2½ years. The rain at the time made him feel at home because January and February are the rainy months in his home state.

The Bensons arrived with their furniture in a rental truck with the family car towed behind. They are presently “rattling around” in the large house at the experiment station.

The men at the camp were being paid $3 a day and were charged 90 cents per day for board.

STATE DIVISION IS SHAPING UP

North Idaho statehood is taking concrete form. The move has gone so far as to determine the southern border of the proposed state. Statistics show the area included has paid $5 into the Idaho treasury for every $2 received in appropriations. Sentiment in Boise is strong against the division, as the capital would likely be moved to Pocatello.
