Sandpoint living is working together and supporting each other. Some recent letters about the upcoming supplemental levy have been miscommunicated because of incorrect facts or details inside the numbers. If you need clarification, be proactive, go to the meetings and meet with school personnel. If you think things should be different, get involved. If you have ideas, be the difference and help make it happen.

School levies in Sandpoint are for the kids! Without them, our children would not have the outlet to experience athletics, choir, drama, art, band, academic competitions, newspaper, yearbook, dance, cheer and other activities they currently enjoy. When I was growing up I remember the importance of these activities and I still see the rewards. Students learn responsibility, gain confidence and become more adept. These activities help local kids get scholarships and look great on college applications. School years may be the only opportunity kids will have to experience these activities. If the levy does not pass, it will have a huge impact in the lives of all our kids, jobs and the community.

My two oldest have graduated from SHS and the levy sponsored programs helped them get into college, get scholarships and taught them skills they still use every day. I encourage those who question the levy to think about how life was when you were in school and the enjoyment and benefits you got from these activities. Please, vote “yes” for the replacement supplemental levy election. Vote March 14, 2017.
