Feb. 9, 1967 — TRI CIRCLE MEETS

Fourteen members of the Tri Circle Club met at the home of Rosie Balison. Committee appointments were read:

Year book: Jan Meneely, Jean Piehl and Mary Ann Felts.

Membership: Pat Bloom and Ginger Kohal.

Social: Gloria McNearney, Gail Anderson and Florence Van Den Berg.

Planning: Gisela Schulze, Joyce Salfeld and Marie Van Den Berg.

Sunshine: Linda Bloom and Diane Yount.

Civil Defense: Rosie Balison.

TINY MISS RECEIVES MEDAL

An unusual ceremony in Sandpoint will be held at Sandpoint Junior High School on Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. when two-year-old Lynnette Lockwood will be presented the bronze star with “V” device for heroism, posthumously to her father, SP James Lockwood, who was killed in Vietnam last Sept. 14. Little Miss Lockwood will be accompanied to the ceremony by her mother, Mrs. Judy Lockwood. Also present will be her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Lockwood of Selle and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Goullette.

William D. Martin post 15, American Legion, is making local arrangements for the ceremony. Herbert Johnson is the post commander.

Last Tuesday “Ma” Williams served a chicken dinner to her boarders to show appreciation for the Starfish bowling team’s victory over the Crabs, having won the two best of three events.

PREPAREDNESS HAS BEEN GOING ON

Measures of national preparedness taken in the last two years make it unnecessary for the war and navy departments to do much work that otherwise would have to be begun immediately.

It rests with the president what army policy is to be followed if war comes. The general opinion is that in prospect of war with a first class power 3,000,000 or more men would be trained.

DANCE AT LACLEDE

A Lincoln’s Birthday and St. Valentine’s Day dance will be given at Laclede. Music will be furnished by the Twentieth Century “Gloom Destroyers” — DeLong & O’Hara — and it will be the best dance music in the Inland Empire.
