Local youth Nordic skiers fare well at Junior Olympic qualifier

SPOKANE — The Sandpoint Nordic Club continues to make a name for itself this season, sending eight racers to a Junior Olympic qualifier race held at Mt. Spokane Nordic Center last weekend.

Saturday was the classic race and Sunday was freestyle/skate skiing. The club had five racers on Saturday and eight racers on Sunday, with a handful notching top finishes.

CLASSIC – 3K

Simeon Dussault, 9, time 13:29.

Cole Williamson, 9, time 14:04.

CLASSIC – 5K

Annaby Kanning, 13, skied up in a tougher division with girls who are 14 and 15 years-old, finishing fifth among 10 girls with a time of 22:01.7.

Tabor Dussault, 15, finished 8th among 25 boys in a time of 19:27.5.

CLASSIC -10K

Emerson Kanning, 17, time of 51:28.3.

SKATE 1K Lollipop (untimed fun race)

Winslow Cox, 5, completed and picked up a lollipop.

Josie Cox, 8, completed and picked up a lollipop.

Anselm Dussault, 6, completed and picked up two lollipops.

SKATE – 1K

Simeon Dussault, 9, overall winner out of six total skiers with a time of 9:33.

SKATE – 3K

Berkeley Cox, 10, finish time of 21:36.69.

Blayne Kanning, 10, finish time of 28:40.9.

SKATE – 5K

Annaby Kanning, 13, finished 6th out of 10 girls in the U16 division with a time of 21:25.98.

Tabor Dussault, 15, finished 7th out of 20 boys in the U16 division with a time of 17:37.18.

SKATE 10K

Emerson Kanning, 17, finished with a time of 51:51.41.
